They are learning to create a plan for their work, set up, clean up and independently prepare their supplies, artists are learning through peer interaction. There are three centers open for students to choose from - Dry materials (for drawing), Wet materials (acrylic and watercolor) and collage.
Welcome to the Art Room! It's going to be a great year!
This year in Art, grades 4-8 will practice a choice based art room also known as Teaching Artistic Behaviors (TAB). Choice-based art education provides for the development of artistic behaviors enabling students to discover what it means to be an artist through the authentic creation of artwork. The ability to make one's own choices and decisions regarding one's work is a contributing factor for creativity. Multiple centers will be open daily and students have the option to execute their work. Grades K-3 will learn the basics of those centers, elements and principles of design and how to properly care for their materials.
